Getting Jiggy with Iggy!
New pop centre Watt in Rotterdam (previously Nighttown) has announced its opening act: Iggy Pop and the Stooges will bring new life to the venue!
Tickets go on sale Saturday morning at 10am and we expect them to go fast based on the massive attendence when Iggy played at Lowlands festival last year.

Capsi has been updated!
In the very early morning hours, we completed a long-awaited update to Capsi. Although we had to fix a couple of issues, the update went smoothly. We hope you'll enjoy the new look and feel as well as the new features! (We'll be explaining them one by one in upcoming posts.)
Users of Internet Explorer might experience some layout problems on pages with forms. We're looking into it. (And we recommend
Firefox, but let's not start a browser debate.)
Let us know if you have any questions, suggestions or feedback. We'd love to hear from you and make things better!
Amazon S3 outage affects Capsi
For the past five hours, the Amazon S3 network has been experiencing severe outages. These problems have affected Capsi because several files required for the Capsi web site (images, stylesheets, Javascript files) are stored on S3.
We've worked hard to resolve the issue on our end by changing some settings to load the affected content from other servers.
Update: Just in from Amazon:
2:03 PM PDT We have restored all internal communication between hosts in the EU and we are continuing to make progress in the US. Once all internal communication has been restored, we will start a multi-step process to begin accepting requests across Amazon S3 locations.
Update: all is well again!

Wow.
Are you ready for the new Capsi?
(Looking for the Capsi homepage?)
The renewed Capsi site is getting closer and closer to its launch - and just in time it seems: our current logo seems to be falling apart already!
So what kind of changes can you expect?
First of all, a new streamlined style. Not that Capsi is hideous at the moment, but when streamlining the interface it just felt better to soften the tones and use far less contrast.
The new action bar. We will post a more detailed update on the action bar when it is introduced, but the idea is simple: the bar keeps you up-to-date with notifications and gives you quick access to common features of the site. We'll be starting with the simple basics and will then add more functionality to the bar gradually after its initial launch.
Improved friends and top friends management. Sort your friend in any order you like, and place as many (or as few) friends in your top list as you want.
Many bugfixes and "behind the scenes" improvements for an even better codebase.

And that's just the first update of many. With the newly refurbished code in place, we can start making gradual improvements again, such as a profile theme editor.
We currently expect to launch the improved Capsi on July 23.
A Summer To Remember
It's almost as if some magic pixie dust landed on Capsi.. But none of that! We simply started working on an Internet crawler finding, standardising and submitting new tour dates to Capsi.
The crawler found plenty of new concerts yesterday, but it still wasn't very brilliant at parsing them. Today, while still not brilliant, it's doing a little better: when reparsing the cached results it found new tour dates for: A Day To Remember, Amorphis, Anti Flag, The Blackout, Bomb The Music Industry, Cute Is What We Aim For, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Dropkick Murphys, Enter Shikari, Exit Avenue, Finntroll, Flogging Molly, Good Charlotte, Heather Nova, In Flames, James Blunt, Ladytron, McFly, Meg & Dia, My American Heart, Neil Diamond, New Found Glory, Nickelback, Papa Roach, Rancid, Shaped By Fate, Sonic Syndicate, Suicide Silence, Tegan and Sara, The Warriors, Wednesday 13, Whitesnake, Aborted, Agnostic Front, Alicia Keys, Apocalyptica, Atreyu, Blood Stands Still, Cansei de Ser Sexy, Cephalic Carnage, Converge, Cult of Luna, Dimmu Borgir, Furious Styles, Heavy Heavy Low Low, I Am Ghost, Lacrimosa, Lemuria, Less Than Jake, Lostprophets, Lower Class Brats, Madball, Meshuggah, Motion City Soundtrack, My Passion, New Model Army, Paramore, Pendulum, Plain White T's, The Pleasure Kills, The Riplets, See You Next Tuesday, Serj Tankian, Simple Plan, Supergrass, Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, Tiger Army, Tokio Hotel, Vanilla Pod, Voodoo Glow Skulls, We Are Scientists and Within Temptation!
(We promise that these updates will become a bit more focused and detailed when the crawler is fully operational and most listings will actually be brand new instead of catching up!)
More summer tour goodness
Since our last tour news update earlier today, we have added new tour dates for Good Charlotte, Ladytron, Cansei de Ser Sexy, Koopa, Lostprophets and Madball!

Miranda Cosgrove joins music industry
Drake Bell, Emma Roberts, Hillary Duff.. apparently you cannot star in a teen television show and not sign a record deal. Especially not if you star on Nickelodeon. The latest teen star in making: Miranda Cosgrove. Miranda who? The endearingly smart kid managing the band in Jack Black's School of Rock, that's who. If that doesn't ring a bell, perhaps you might be a Nickelodeon fan and know her... Read full entry

Your concerts or your calendar?
Currently Capsi only lets you track concerts. While concerts will always be a key focus of the site, I can see how it could be useful to also include sports, business and custom events. As an example, why shouldn't Capsi let me know I have not just been to Give It A Name festival at Earl's Court, but also to a business conference. By the way, I ran into Tom of Exit Avenue at GIAN last month, that... Read full entry

12-4=8 (Another weekend in London)
London trips are supposed to be packed with adventure, drenched in wonder and full of fun. Ironically what could be my most memorable London trip ever also had more mistakes and crap attached to it than any before. The first mistake was booking a 7am flight from Amsterdam, which required me to be up way too early Saturday morning - or rather in the middle of Friday night. Most of the weekend... Read full entry

There is a saying that when one is tired of London, one is tired of life. I wouldn't know, I'm neither. Here's last weekend's trip summary! Got up way too early on Saturday to head for Rotterdam Airport. The flight was quite uneventful but it was great of Jay to come pick me up at London City airport. We took a train to Harrow so I could drop my stuff at his place and then met up with Flora... Read full entry

Find out more easily what you've seen where!
Last night someone browsed my concert statistics and noticed I have seen HorrorPops seventeen times, HiM half a dozen of times, and so on. "Wow, that often, where have you seen them?" - "Gee, let me think." "Yes?" - "My memory sucks. It would be quicker to just let the site tell me." And only half an hour and a few technological adventures later, Rob saw that it was good. Artist... Read full entry

Great bands? Let me know!
This year I worked hard to create Capsi, in 2008 I will start to seriously promote it. I have a small budget to purchase CDs of good bands and will start giving those away monthly to both new members and the most active members (hint: writing artist bios is a huge factor in this!). I'll start by giving away both Exit Avenue EPs, but what I really want is a range of gifts users can choose... Read full entry
